Job Role & Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading and supporting our Security Engineering Team whose primary focus is the support & management of our customer Splunk platforms. You will be responsible for leading the team along with being their escalation point for complex issues. Through setting the standard of best practice and ensuring quality you will hold strong Customer Support skills along with practical resolution skills.

This is a very dynamic role where you will provide technical assistance, troubleshoot and resolve Customer Problems, interface with the Service Delivery Managers, Technical Splunk Consultants on various product issues and contribute to ongoing service improvement discussions. You will be responsible for knowledge management and ensuring we have the appropriate supporting documentation for all resolution paths.

In addition to supporting customer platforms, for our Managed Service customers you will be required to develop our customer Splunk platforms through the integration of new log sources, report/dashboard creation and work with our Security Analysts & CTI team to build, test and implement new security use cases.

As the most Senior member of our Splunk Support Team, you may be required to attend Enterprise Customer Calls with the wider Senior Team in Integrity360.

Key Areas and Responsibilities

  • Lead and Support the Security Engineering Team through setting of best practice and providing mentorship, guidance and setting development paths
  • Defining our approach to management of quality and service through our Splunk Support & Management Services
  • Technical Support for our Enterprise Customers
  • Troubleshoot technical issues to establish the root cause of the problem and form a solution or workaround across a range of environments
  • Provide documentation and support articles to support our Clients’ Splunk Environments to ensure the resolution capability within the splunk support team.
  • Prioritise and manage several open issues at one time
  • Escalate cases, where necessary, to our Splunk Consultancy Practice
  • You will be familiar with operational workflows and recognising and onboarding new data sources into Splunk, analysing the data for anomalies and trends, building dashboards with key trends of the data for Customer Reporting.
  • Ensure our SLA obligations with our customers are observed and met. On occasion you may be asked to provide reporting to validate same.

  • Bachelors Degree preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software or Management Information Systems or Cyber Security
  • Minimum of three years experience working with Splunk, ideally within a Security Environment
  • Splunk certification, ideally to at least Splunk Architect level.
  • Experience of leading a Technical Security Support Team or holding the Senior Role on the Team
  • Understanding and experience of typical Splunk deployment models and associated technical architectures, to include virtualized on-premise environments and public cloud implementations in Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Experience and excellent knowledge of the Linux system administration
  • Understanding of regular expressions (Regex) and Python scripting
  • Knowledge in the following areas is a plus: Perl and shell scripting, XML, HTML
  • The ability to shift gears and focus is essential when supporting a product like Splunk
  • Working Knowledge of SSL / TLS / X509 Certificates and PKI
  • Solid knowledge of networking concepts and network protocols (e.g TCP, UDP) and application layer protocols (e.g. DNS, DHCP)
  • Highly developed, process-oriented skills for troubleshooting, problem solving, and problem resolution
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced technical environment and support a product with frequent product releases and regular maintenance updates
  • People management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage numerous competing concurrent activities and complex integration solutions, including experience in managing technology projects
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Aptitude for solving problems and acting on own initiative
  • A strong team player with a flexible approach
